In BE2516, tensions were high along the Thai–Lao border, particularly around the Mekong River, which separates the two countries. There were frequent confrontations in the area, creating considerable danger and uncertainty for Thai personnel stationed along the river.

During one particularly serious incident, a high-ranking Thai officer lost his life, greatly affecting the morale of those serving in the area.

The Vice Admiral later consulted Mr. Cherdsak Phumisawat, one of the earliest disciples of LP Koon of Wat Ban Rai. As both had great faith in their respected teacher, they decided to seek LP Koon’s permission to create a special batch of amulets for members of the Mekong River Fleet, hoping to provide them with protection and peace of mind while carrying out their duties.

LP Koon agreed and he instructed Mr. Cherdsak to create a small set of amulets in the shape of tamarind leaves, specifically intended to be carried by personnel serving in these dangerous areas.

The amulets were produced in gold, silver, bronze and copper, after which LP Koon personally performed a special consecration over them. According to accounts passed down by his disciples, these amulets were blessed for  comprehensive, all-round protection.

The first group to receive them was the Border Patrol Police.

Not long afterwards, another serious confrontation occurred along the Mekong River. Despite the dangerous circumstances, those who had received the amulets reportedly returned safely from each encounter, with not a single member suffering harm.

Stories of these experiences quickly spread, and the small tamarind-leaf amulets became deeply treasured by those fortunate enough to have received them during that period. Over the years, even more stories began to emerge. There were accounts of youngsters wearing these tamarind-leaf amulets escaping serious injury from dog encounters and accidental falls into water.

Whenever these remarkable stories were later shared with LP Koon, he would simply laugh, a response that perfectly reflected his humble and unassuming nature.

This sacred batch is also regarded as LP Koon’s first batch Naprok amulet, making it an especially important early creation in his amulet history.

Only a limited number were produced across four materials:

  • Gold: 37 pieces
  • Silver: 812 pieces
  • Nawaloha : 2,000 pieces
  • Copper: 10,000 pieces
